Hello to all that listen.....or read. I have posted some photos of our latest project here at Escape Design FX; the Bigfoot. Ssssquachy, as we call him here in the studio, is being created for documentary called, Utah's Bigfoot. He will be used to reenact sighting claims, and to add an element of drama to the film.
Squachy stands over 7' tall. The torso is a one piece mask (shoulders included). Sculpted in WED Clay, molded in UltraCal, and cast in Latex. IT'S A BIG FREAKIN MOLD! When the suit is finished there will be over 2lbs of fur used to cover the latex skin. 2 Lbs of hair individually punched in the latex for a more realistic appearance. The torso alone took 12 hours of painstaking focus and detail to accomplish.
All of this, in combination with Acrylic eyes and nails, make up one of the most lifelike and majestic creatures to come out of our studio.
The suit will be used in tandem with an animatronic copy. The suit will be used for scenery shots, and the animatronic torso will be used for close-ups and lifelike movement. We will post animatronic photos soon. The Animation will be constructed of a fiberglass underskull, acrylic eyes and teeth, a silicone copy of the suits mask, and more. We actually had to resculpt Squachy and make a fiberglass mold as well, so that silicone could be poured for the skin.
There are more really cool things to share here at the studio, but we for now we must keep them secret. So, keep coming back to read about it. We look forward to hearing your comments.

Escape’ Design FX was founded in 1996. In the beginning our focus was on costuming, but since 2003 EDFX has expanded our focus to special effects, props, and makeup. Though we have earned numerous third parting contracts on some huge Hollywood productions, we have always considered independent film as our mainstay.
“It’s a bigger challenge working on indie films. Anyone can create amazing films with access to huge Hollywood dollars; but creating amazing films with extremely limited funds shows incredible imagination and ingenuity.”
EDFX founded Independent Filmmaking, an association of filmmakers catering to truly independent film productions. EDFX prides itself on creating high quality products to fit into indie film budgets.
EDFX expanded its view in 2007 creating an independent production company called Ritual Pictures, and in 2011 Kerr Clan Films, a stop motion animation house. Keeping its roots in the indie world is extremely important to us. As indie filmmakers ourselves, we know the struggles of creating something spectacular on a limited budget. We take pride in catering to those independent films budgets.
